To my former self:
Dear Freshman me,
It may seem scary, but don't be nervous. You don't have anything to worry about. You have been in and out of that school ever since you were a baby. You are ready for this next step in your life, and honestly High School isn't much different than Middle School was. Just relax and you will be just fine. Try and care about your grades as long as you can because despite what some people say, they really do effect the next step of your life. Senioritis will also come sooner than senior year for you. (Sorry)
Yes it was a rough summer and sadly it will only just get worse for a while, but that doesn't mean you should even think about giving up. You're far too strong to even think that. At times it may seem as if you care far more about someone who doesn't even care a little about you and that will be true. Just remember that those people are not worth your time or effort. Those aren't the people you need in your life. However, continue to care about what is important to you. Don't do anything you don't enjoy doing just to satisfy what others want from you. Be happy with the things you do for you because you are most important.
Don't forget to smile. Ever. Even on your worst of days, smiling is better than answering questions. Keep your head up because life will get more harsh and complicated over the years. Just remember you are strong enough to handle whatever is thrown at you even on your worst days.
Best of luck,
Junior Sam
To my future self:
Dear future me,
I'm beyond proud of you for making it that far. With all the times you could have and though about giving up, you didn't. I hope you have lived a life full of experiences that have made you into a better person. A life full of opportunity and a life you can say you are happy to have lived. With all the hardships I am glad you made it as far as you did.
I hope you have a job that you love and look forward to go to each day. I hope it was worth the time spent in college and the extra years of studying. I hope you have found someone who understands you and makes your life better. I hope you and him have created a wonderful family with two kids that make you realize the good things in life.
Along with a great job and family, I hope you have grown to love yourself. I hope you are able to accept the life you have lived and the decisions you have made. Nothing is worse than regretting something you had control over. I hope you have taken every opportunity you have been given and made the best of it. But most of all, I hope you are happy. You deserve to be able to feel something other than confusion.
Always proud of you,
High School Sam
